Traffic Calming: street closures

MLPORA is committed to safeguard the residents of the community. As a residential safety objective, we have identified a number of streets to be closed to serve dual purposes. The major motivation would be to introduce “traffic calming” to prevent people from using our suburb as a racetrack to bypass traffic, so our residents can exercise in a safe environment and as a by-product to this, we remove convenient escape routes for criminals to flee. The rationale is that this will discourage criminality in the area.

Heritage

Muckleneuk / Lukasrand has a rich heritage. When buying a house in the area, you buy a story.

Find out more about the rich history of the neighbourhood, but also how to go about finding out about your heritage house.

Town Planning

We have to remain vigilant that we do not succumb to the pressure of development by allowing our area to become a business district or uncontrolled desification. The town planning team assists residents in protecting their, arguably, most valuable asset by ensuring that Municipal by-laws are enforced and development and densification happen in alignment with the ethos of our suburb.

The Commons

Muckleneuk Commons – is meant to encourage social responsibility, address environmental injustice and taking ownership of the environment. It is a collective effort of residents coming together to beautify a space that was just rubble and rubbish. Today it's a favourite gathering place for events and our community.

Kruin Park

The Friends of Kruin Park promote the connection between supporters or volunteers of the park and the Park itself, which is run by Nature Conservation. Volunteers play a crucial role in caring for this unique green space allowing our community to enjoy the indigenous trees, plants and grasses and beautiful views as they walk, picnic and bird watch.
